David was a man of wealth and power, however his desire was not for these things. In the Psalms, David writes:
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.” (Psalm 73:25 NIV)
Our first command from God is to love Him with our whole hearts (Matthew 22:37). This is a key mark of a woman after God’s own heart.
In my book “Daughters of Fire,” I say: “It’s not about our fire for God, it’s about His fire for us.”
Cultivating a heart after God happens when we cultivate a relationship with Him. When we know God, and His love for us in light of our sin, past, and shortcomings, it grows in us a response to love and desire Him. Today, I encourage you to draw closer to God and strengthen your relationship with Him.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for drawing me closer to You and helping me to love You more with all my heart. Create in my heart a stronger desire to cultivate our relationship daily. In Jesus’ name, amen.
