July 21 • Why Worry When You Can Pray

If God would sacrifice His own Son to secure our eternity with Him, surely He is trustworthy to handle our today and tomorrow. Romans 8:32 reminds us:

“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 ESV)

Many times, our worry may be a sign of fractured trust in God, too much reliance on ourselves or the things of this world, and a misguided view of God. But when we hold onto the truth of God’s promises, we don’t have to worry about anything. The truth that God is with us, He is in control and He is for us surpasses anything we could worry about. He truly is greater.

I often like to say, “Why worry when we can pray?” If your mind is ruled by worry today, I encourage you to take a moment to ask for God’s help to get your thoughts back on Him. He is faithful to answer.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, when I’m worried, thank you that You want me to cast all my cares to You. When I’m anxious, thank You for carrying all my burdens and being in complete control. In Jesus’ name, amen.
