When unfortunate life circumstances occur, we are often left with questions like: Why me? Why do I have to go through this? Did I do something to deserve this? And maybe the most popular: Is God mad at me? We think that if something bad happens to us, it’s because we’ve done something wrong, and now God is mad at us. That just spirals into a whole roller coaster of emotions that leaves us, at best, confused and insecure and, at worse, bitter and angry towards God and probably everyone else too.
Now if you’ve found yourself on this roller coaster, I want to help you press the brakes and ease you off this crazy train with this truth: bad circumstances do not mean God is mad at you. The Bible tells us in Psalm 103:8:
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” (Psalm 103:8 ESV)
I want to encourage you today that your tests and trials do not change how God feels about you. No matter what you are going through, please know you are deeply loved by your Heavenly Father.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for your love and mercy that is like nothing else I know. I pray You help me trust You during difficult times and not allow false thoughts about You to get in the way of our relationship. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
