With the rise of photo filters at our fingertips, we can have high cheekbones, a slimmer nose, and baby smooth skin as fast as you can say Instagram. We can display pictures full of styled outfits, a healthy breakfast, and a happy, smiling couple, especially tailored to portray the perfect life. And if we’re not careful, we can buy into the hype that a life that looks perfect is all we need. But the Bible tells us: “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7b ESV)

God knows if there is insecurity behind our filtered selfie, pride behind our cropped image, or jealousy as we scroll through it all. If we want to impress man, then social media has provided us every way to do that. But if we want to please our Heavenly Father, we need to seek Him to create in us a clean heart, not a perfect feed. I want to encourage you today, Beloved, not to get caught up in the smoke and mirrors but to live an authentic and real life that pleases your heavenly Father.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing me deeply and intimately and loving me anyway. I pray You mold my heart to be like Your Son’s. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.
