Two words. Temper tantrum. Now you’re thinking of a toddler, right? I usually do too, until I find myself in an unexpected, undesired, and out-of-my-control situation. I think in our own ways, even as bill paying, raising children, staying up as late as we want to adults, we still have temper tantrums in our own way. Because no one likes when life does not go their way, right? It’s in these challenging situations where we are tempted into this thinking that if life is not going our way, God is not with us, God is not all-powerful, or that He is not worthy. But that could not be further from the truth. Psalm 46:10 reminds us:
“Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV)
We are to know that God is God. When we make God’s love something that it is not, when we make it conditional or dependent on what we want, we stop believing the truth about God, and our actions will soon follow. So, if we want to stay on course, we must know that God is God with or without our issues, struggles, and temptations, and we don’t follow Him because of what He can give us but for simply who He is.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for your guidance and help as I navigate life’s unexpected circumstances. I trust You as You order my steps. You know what you’re doing. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.
