October 27 • Your Body is a Temple

“The food that you’re eating is either hurting you or helping you”. These words from Beloved Women’s Conference speaker Shannon Parker sank deep, mainly because I know it’s true. With TV and the Internet, most of us know what food is good for us and what’s not. The challenge is simply making healthy eating and exercise a lifestyle.

As Christian women, we can’t afford to write this off. God cares about our physical bodies as much as our spiritual beings. Our bodies are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and we should treat them as such, not as an obligation but as a privilege. 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us:

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.” (1 Corinthians 6:19 ESV)

I’m not saying you need to do something drastic right now, but I challenge you today to make one small step towards the healthy lifestyle God desires for you. Drink water instead of soda, ask a friend to join you for an afternoon walk, or make plans to cook instead of grabbing fast food this week. Lifestyle change doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen one small step at a time. I encourage you to take that step today.’

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful body You have blessed me with. Please help me to take care of it in a way that honors and glorifies You. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.
