Day 5: A Shoot from Jessie
Reading: Isaiah 11:1-5
God promised King David that his offspring would rule on the throne of Israel forever. How could this be? This promise is fulfilled because Jesus Christ would be in the lineage of David, and Jesus would rule God’s kingdom for eternity. Isaiah 11:1 says:
“Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.” (Isaiah 11:1 NLT)
God’s people wanted a king to save them. Many times, they placed their hope in human kings who failed, but God promised to raise up a King who was wise, understanding, and knowledgeable and Who would rule forever. Jesus is that King, and He now holds all authority in Heaven and Earth at the Father’s right hand. God’s promise has been fulfilled.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being a promise keeper and that your Word stands forever. May I trust in Your truth and Your promise to cover me all my life. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
