Day 16: Following God’s Lead
Reading: Luke 2:1-5
While Mary was pregnant with Jesus, a census was taken throughout the entire Roman Empire. This caused Joseph and Mary to leave Nazareth to be counted. Luke 2:4 tells us:
“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David.” (Luke 2:4 ESV)
While it may not have been in Mary and Joseph’s original plans to travel while pregnant, God’s ultimate plan to bring salvation to the world was unwrapping as they found themselves in Bethlehem, the city where Jesus was foretold to be born. There is always more going on than we can see, and God is always working in every detail of our lives. No matter where life may lead us, we can rest assured God has us right where we need to be.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for ordering my steps in Your divine power and wisdom. I trust where You lead me as I follow You in faith. In Jesus’ Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
