Day 18: Peace on Earth
Reading: Luke 2:8-15
While Mary and Joseph welcomed their Son Jesus into the world, His birth was announced to shepherds in a nearby field. An angel of the Lord appeared before the shepherds to tell them of the good news. Then the angel was joined by more angels saying:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” (Luke 2:14 NLT)
It was God’s intention for the world to know that His promised Son had come, and His plan to reconcile Himself back to His people was well underway. Our fallen world was far from peace, but now Peace came to earth. Jesus did not just bring peace; He was and is peace to those who place their faith in Him.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the peace that You give. When I’m overwhelmed with the trouble this world brings, may I remember the peace You freely give to me through Christ. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
