Day 21: Worth the Wait
Reading: Luke 2: 25-35
While Mary and Joseph were at the temple, a man named Simeon was there. He was full of the Holy Spirit and knew that Jesus was the Messiah he had waited for so long. The Lord told him he would not die until he saw the Messiah, and this was that day. God was faithful again to His Word. Simeon then blessed the new parents with these words:
“Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, and many others to rise. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him.” (Luke 2:34 NLT)
Again, we see another prophecy about Jesus, and as His life plays out in the New Testament and even today, we see that Simeon’s prophecy was true because God’s words never fail, no matter how long you may have to wait to see it happen.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I can always trust in Your Word. Like Simeon, may I be led in the truth by Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
