Day 24: The Star of Bethlehem

Reading: Matthew 2:1-12

Like a proud Father, God miraculously tells those near and far of the birth of His Son. Wise men from the East saw a star that alerted them of the birth of Jesus, so they set out to find Him. When they find Him in Bethlehem, Matthew 2:11 tells us:

“They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

The gifts given would have helped to support Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, but more than that, they represented the worth of Christ. Jesus’s humble beginnings do not negate the insurmountable value He offers. Some could not see His worth, like King Herod, but many others would, like the wise men who appropriately worshiped Jesus as King of the Jews.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the greatest gift ever: Your precious Son, Jesus Christ.

In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
