Day 25: The Sign You’ve Been Looking For
Reading: 1 John 4:9-11
What makes the birth of Jesus such a powerful testament to God’s love for us is that instead of our needing to work our way up to Him (which we can’t do no matter how hard we try), He came to us. 1 John 4:9 tells us:
“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.” (1 John 4:9 NLT)
Throughout the scriptures, we see God sent signs that Jesus was coming and even when He arrived. If we wonder what love looks like, God gives us a sign: the birth of His Son, whom He gives to us, that we might know His love. What should our response be to such a great love as this? Love one another.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love through the birth, life, sacrifice, and resurrection of Your only Son, Jesus Christ. As I receive the greatest gift of love through Christ, I pray that love overflows into the lives of those around me. I rejoice today in knowing how loved I truly am.
