If we want to see God alive and active in our lives, James 4:8 tells us we need to:
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” (James 4:8 ESV)
Drawing near to God is not trying to work for our salvation. It’s opening our eyes to see who God already is in our lives. It’s opening our hearts to experience God for ourselves. Sometimes we block God out of our hearts because we’re afraid to let God in our lives. We’re afraid to trust Him, or we’re scared that if we draw near, we will be rejected or hurt. But when we harden our hearts in an effort to prevent ourselves from getting hurt, we block ourselves from ever truly knowing God. And that’s a high price to pay because we can’t experience God if we don’t know Him.
The more I’ve drawn near to God, the more I’ve experienced Him in my life. The more I pray, the more I realize He hears me. The more I read my Bible, the more I realize His true and unchanging character. The more I choose to trust Him, the more I’ve miraculously witnessed His faithfulness. If you’ve found yourself searching for more in life, I encourage you to draw near to God. I’m confident He has everything you’re looking for.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being available to me. May I seek and find You all the days of my life.
In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
