January 7• Love God with All Your Heart

God tells us to love Him with our whole hearts, because if there is an emptiness in our hearts, not filled with God, we will seek other means to fill it.

It’s like going to the grocery store hungry and buying more than you need. If you had eaten before you got there, you would not buy foods that you don’t need and that are not good for you because you don’t desire what you already have. So, Luke 10:27 tells us:

“And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27 ESV)

You already have the righteousness of Christ. You don’t need to work for it.

You already have God’s love. You don’t need to compromise for the love of man.

You already have God’s freedom, peace, and joy. You don’t need to go looking to the world for things that you already have.

There is no need to seek the fading and artificial pleasures of this world. As we fill up on God, we realize we already have everything we need in Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for providing all my needs. I pray you keep my eyes on you and my heart seeking you to fulfill me. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
