With any worldly pleasure at our fingertips, it’s easy to lose focus on Christ. But let’s not be deceived into thinking easy means better. 1 John 2:17 reminds us:
“And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” (ESV)
The easy things of this world will pass away. Money, beauty, fame, and any worldly desire will serve no one in the long term. Yet we are constantly tempted to place our faith in these things. When we do that, we waste our lives.
I want to encourage you to place your hope and faith in the eternal by living for God and doing his will. Unlike the things of this world, it’s not always easy, but God promises that it’s always worth it.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for eternal life in Your Son, Jesus Christ. I pray for wisdom and strength to stay focused on what matters most. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
