Like many first-time moms, I was thrown into motherhood with no idea as to what I was doing. However, as challenging as early motherhood was, it was a breeding ground for spiritual growth. I would have to cling to God for the supernatural strength to accomplish what He called me to do in that season. That’s what growing seasons do. There are times of change that bring challenges to push you to a new level of strength and capacity. You may be stretched to do things you’ve never done or go places you’ve never gone. God is stretching you because He wants to enlarge your capacity to handle what it is that He has next for you. James 1:4 encourages us to:
“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:4 NIV)
The discomfort that you feel in a growing season isn’t because you’re a failure. You’re simply experiencing growing pain. A growing season requires the right spiritual nutrition to sustain the growth God is providing in your soul and life. In a growing season, your natural ability will not be enough. You need supernatural power from God to make it through stronger on the other side. As we rely on Him and persevere, we will be matured into the women God is calling us to be.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for growing me. Please help me to lean on You as I’m stretched to believe and be more in Your strength alone. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
