When you start to think that God, in some capacity, is unable to do something, or that He is somehow not in control, fear takes over.
Our fear stems more from what you think about God, even more than the battles we face. This is why we can experience peace during hard times. When our mind is on the goodness and truth of God, we are reminded He’s greater than any obstacle that may come our way. Isaiah 26:3 says:
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)
It’s important to realize that your circumstance is not the source of your fear. The storm you are facing is not the root of your fear. Fear is a spirit that wants to rob you of every good gift that God has for you. Fear will attack you in the storm, but if you don’t put your faith in Jesus, fear will also attack after the storm, and then you’ll just be afraid of when the next storm will arise. A life with no storms will not cast out fear; only perfect love can cast out fear, as 1 John 4:18 tells us. So, I encourage you today to face your challenges with faith, knowing God is greater.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for increasing my faith in You, as I navigate life’s storms. When I begin to fear my circumstances, remind me that You are greater than any fear and are working out everything for my good. In Jesus’ name, amen
