April 4 • When God Wants All of You

When I make something, I want to preserve it. I want it to last because I know the time, effort, and energy it took to build. But my son? He’s not just about the final product—he loves the process. Sometimes he’ll break down what he’s already built just to use the pieces to make something new. And that got me thinking… God is a builder, too. Our Creator delights in making new things. He doesn’t just want the finished version of us—He enjoys the process of building, forming, and shaping us into something greater.

But here’s the thing: He can’t build something new if we’re clinging to what’s already established. That means sometimes, He’s going to break us down—not to harm us, but to rebuild something far better. And yes, it can feel messy and even painful, but it’s purposeful. Psalm 51:17 says:

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” (ESV)

While we’re trying to “get it together,” God is saying, “Give Me the pieces.”

He doesn’t need your perfection—He wants your surrender. He doesn’t call us to be self-made, but God-made. You are His workmanship, His masterpiece in progress, and He’s shaping something bigger than you can see right now. So don’t be afraid of the breaking—He’s just getting started.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being a Creator who isn’t afraid of my brokenness. Help me release the pressure to hold it all together and give You every piece of me. I trust that You’re building something beautiful—even if I can’t see it yet. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
