Have you ever felt like your past disqualified you? Like you’ve gone too far, messed up too much, or disappointed God one too many times? Those feelings of shame and guilt can be heavy but they do not come from God. They come from the enemy who wants to keep you stuck, silent, and disconnected from the truth. Romans 8:1 reminds us of the truth:
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (ESV)
Condemnation means to be judged guilty and sentenced to punishment. But if you belong to Jesus, that’s no longer your story. Jesus already took the guilt. He already bore the punishment. And in return, He gave you His righteousness. You’ve been sealed with the Holy Spirit, marked as His, and promised that He will come back for you. Condemnation is not your portion.
Now, the enemy will still try to accuse you. He’ll whisper, “You should be ashamed,” or “You’re not really forgiven,” or “There’s no way God still wants you.” But don’t be fooled. He may accuse, but he has no power to condemn. John 3:17 tells us:
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (ESV)
The enemy is just projecting his future onto you. He is the one who is condemned. You, my sister in Christ, are forgiven, washed clean, and promised eternal life.
So I encourage you not to live like someone still on trial. Your record is clear and you’ve already been set free.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation and the truth that I am no longer condemned. When the enemy tries to accuse me, please remind me of who I am in You. May I walk in freedom, knowing I am fully forgiven and forever Yours. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
