April 16 • You Are Not of This World

One of the greatest obstacles we face when it comes to embracing our identity in Christ is the fact that we live in a fallen world. But don’t be mistaken: you are not of this world. Jesus said it plainly in John 15:19 that reads:

“You do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.” (ESV)

Still, every day we’re surrounded by a society eager to tell us who we should be—what to value, how to look, how to think—and if we’re not careful, we’ll start to believe it.

So how do we protect our identity in Christ from being reshaped by the world around us? Romans 12: 2 gives us the answer:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” (ESV)

We can either go with the flow of the world, letting it mold us into its image, or we can choose to live differently—Jesus’ way, starting with our minds. When we allow God’s Word to shape our thoughts, rather than the ever-changing opinions of the culture, we start to resist the current, pushing us to become someone God never called us to be.

You don’t have to blend in to belong. You already belong to God. And that changes everything.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me out of the world and giving me a new identity in Christ. Renew my mind daily with Your truth so I can stand firm in who You’ve called me to be. Help me resist the pull of the world and follow You with boldness and grace. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
