Life can feel like a lot sometimes. Whether it’s work, motherhood, marriage, school, errands, or just the endless to-do list, we are constantly moving. And while there’s nothing wrong with being busy, sometimes the noise of life can drown out the stillness we need to truly connect with God.
As a wife, a mom of two, a nonprofit founder, and a business owner, I get it. Between school drop-offs, sports practices, meetings, and ministry, there’s always something going on. And when I start to feel like God is distant or I’m running on empty, I know it’s time to do one thing:
Be still.
I don’t always have the luxury of a full retreat or a weekend away, but I’ve learned that even a few intentional minutes of stillness can reset my spirit. I’ll pause right where I am—close my eyes, take a deep breath, and whisper a prayer. It may seem small, but that stillness creates space for God to meet me. It quiets my mind and reminds my soul that He’s near. Psalm 46:10 says:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (ESV)
Stillness isn’t about inactivity—it’s about intentionality. It’s about quieting the noise just long enough to hear God’s whisper again. You don’t have to clear your calendar to connect with God. Sometimes, all it takes is a moment.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are always near, even when life feels busy and loud. Teach me to be still in Your presence. Help me to make space for You in my day so I can hear Your voice, feel Your peace, and rest in Your love. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
