When Joshua was called to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, God told Joshua not to be afraid and to be courageous.

God says to Joshua:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 ESV)

God’s call to not be afraid was not a suggestion; it was a command. But God did not stop at the command; He followed it with a promise to be with Joshua every step of the way. Joshua’s courage was not to be rooted in himself, his abilities, or in the idea that everything would go perfect (because it wouldn’t). His courage was to be founded on the truth that the God of the universe would be by His side every step of the way.

God gives the same promise of His presence to all believers. Not only is He with us, but He also dwells in us by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Our Father promises never to leave us. When we are aware that God is with us, we become more secure in whatever life throws our way because we know we are never alone. Today, I encourage you to have faith and trust that God will continue to be with you wherever you go.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for promising me that You will always be with me, and that You will never leave me. When I’m afraid, please help me to be strong and rely on You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
