In a world that constantly pressures us to prove our worth, the gospel offers a refreshing truth: we don’t have to. Once we put our faith in Jesus, God’s verdict is final—our sins are forgiven, and He is fully pleased with us. We no longer have to strive for approval, outrun our past, or compete with others for value. We simply accept that God accepts us. And that kind of acceptance can never be taken from us. It doesn’t expire. It doesn’t waver.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Colossians 3:3:
“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” (ESV)
That means our identity is no longer based on our performance—it’s secure in Christ. When we believe this, confidence begins to grow—not from thinking highly of ourselves, but from thinking more deeply about what God has already done.
This kind of confidence frees us from self-obsession. It’s not about inflating or deflating our view of ourselves, but about turning our gaze to the One who made us, loves us, and calls us His own. That’s real humility—and ironically, it’s the path to real confidence.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I don’t have to prove myself to be loved by You. Help me to rest in the truth of Your acceptance. Teach me to shift my focus from myself to You, and let Your love be the steady foundation of my confidence. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
