I thought I knew what tired felt like when I got my first job—until I became a parent. That’s when I learned a whole new level of exhaustion. Physical tiredness from sleepless nights was one thing, but over time, I realized there’s another kind of weariness—a heaviness of the soul.
It’s the kind that comes from praying the same prayer again and again. Fighting the same battles. Holding onto faith when the answers seem far away.
If you’ve felt that kind of tired, I want you to know—you’re not alone, and you’re not without hope. Isaiah 40:30-31 reminds us:
“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength…” (ESV)
There are two things I want you to take from this:
- First, God expects us to get tired
- And second, He promises to renew our strength with His.
Even the strongest grow weary. Just like little kids who insist they don’t need a nap but end up falling asleep at the kitchen table, we sometimes push against our limits. But God knows we need Him.
You’re not a failure because you’re tired. You were never meant to bulldoze through life without rest. You were made to depend on a God who never grows weary—and who lovingly offers you His strength when yours runs out.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for understanding my limits. Teach me to wait on You and trust that You will renew my strength. Help me lean into Your power when my own runs out. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
