April 9 • Keep Praying, Even When It Feels Hard

Can I be honest? Prayer hasn’t always felt easy for me. There have been times when it felt awkward, dry, or like I was just going through the motions. I used to think something was wrong with me, wondering why wasn’t I feeling it? Why didn’t prayer feel powerful, peaceful, or deep every time? But what I’ve learned is this: just because prayer feels hard doesn’t mean it’s not working.

Prayer isn’t always about feelings. Sometimes, it’s about faithfulness.
Even when it’s awkward.
Even when it’s quiet.
Even when it feels like nothing is happening.

I started to think of prayer like planting seeds. When you put a seed in the ground, you don’t see anything right away—but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Growth starts underground. So you keep planting. You keep watering. You keep praying. Eventually, something beautiful breaks through.

James 5:16 reminds us:  “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (ESV)

So keep praying—even when it’s hard. Even when it’s quiet. The seed is still in the soil. Something powerful is still growing.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that prayer still works, even when it feels hard. Help me to keep showing up, keep planting, and keep trusting You. Teach me to release the pressure of perfect prayers and rest in the truth that You hear me and You’re working, even when I can’t see it. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
