The quickest way to put out the fire of God in our souls is to have idols in our hearts. We must take the idols off the pedestals of our hearts and place God as supreme in our lives, where He belongs. We do this by not being deceived into believing that anything in this world is greater than what we have in Heaven. We hold tight to the truth that God is greater than our desires, our plans, and our life. Psalm 73:25-26 says:
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:25-26 ESV)
There is no room for idols in the heart of the woman who truly believes her God is enough. This is why it is so important not to focus on what we can get from God. Our pursuit is not for the blessings of God, but God alone. I encourage you to remember through the good and the bad, through convenience and inconvenience, wealth and poverty, sickness and health, God alone is enough and worthy of our sincere praise.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being enough. Please help me not to become deceived into thinking otherwise. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
