Day 14: A Promise Fulfilled

Reading: Luke 1:57-66

Elizabeth gives birth to her promised child that Gabriel foretold would come. Her neighbors expected her to name the child after his father, Zechariah, but she tells them the child’s name is John. Zechariah confirms, and when he does, this happens:

“And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God.” (‭‭Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭64‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Instead of doubting God, Zechariah praised God. Zechariah saw for himself the faithfulness of God to do the impossible even when we are faithless. His response was appropriate: worship to God.  As we choose to believe God, the deeper our worship to Him will become.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for keeping your promises. May the words of my mouth not doubt You but praise You always. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
