Day 19: Treasure it Up
Reading: Luke 2:16-20
After hearing of the birth of Jesus, nearby shepherds hurried to find Mary and Joseph and told them everything that happened. This word of confirmation would have been a blessing to Mary and Joseph who sacrificed much to bring Jesus into the world. While many were astonished at the testimony of the shepherds, Luke 2:19 tells us:
“But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19 ESV)
The NLT says Mary “thought about them often.” She would never forget this day. God kept His promise for generations. With more challenges to come her way, this moment served as a necessary lifelong reminder that no matter how bad things get, God is faithful, and He is greater.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of peace. May I treasure that promise all the days of my life. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
