Day 2: A Child is Born
Reading: Isaiah 9:6-7
Isaiah prophesies that Jesus will come to the world born as a child. Like you and I, He will know what it’s like to be human. What a gift! Our Savior knows what it’s like to be like us: to hunger, to be tempted, to struggle, and yet He would still overcome. This is what truly makes Him our “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 ESV)
Jesus, born of a woman, didn’t just come to bring us salvation as God alone, but even as a human like us, making Him the only true sacrifice suitable to overcome our sins and save our souls. He came to us as a fragile human so that we would have the opportunity to know Him, and as our mighty God, He gives us victory over sin so we may know Him forever.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for humbling Yourself to meet me where I am and for making a way for me to know You forever. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
