Day 22: Full of Hope
Reading: Luke 2:36-38
Anna was a prophetess who was also in the temple at the time Mary and Joseph arrived with Jesus. After becoming a widow, she spent her life in the temple dedicated to worshiping God. Today would be no different. Luke 2:38 tells us this about Anna:
“She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.” (Luke 2:38 NLT)
Anna was excited to spread the news of Jesus. She knew her Rescuer had arrived and everyone else would also. As a widow, I imagine her life was not easy, but because she thankfully expected God to keep His word, she was full of hope.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope You give. May I always look to You with expectation for the promises You will keep. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
