When a woman who suffered from a bleeding issue for twelve years heard about Jesus, she set out to see if Jesus could heal her. When she saw him, he was surrounded by a crowd of people. In her weak condition, it would have been easier to give up hope. But she didn’t. In Mark 5: 27-28, we read:
“She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment. For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” (ESV)
She pushed through, touched the edge of Jesus’ cloak, and was instantly healed. The woman with the issue of blood teaches us a very important lesson: just because we want to give up doesn’t mean we have to. I wonder what healing, what success, what freedom awaits us on the other side of our obstacles. If we give up now, we may never know. I encourage you to never let your obstacle become your excuse.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the healing, promise, and hope You provide. Please help me to never give up on what You can do through my life.
In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
