Jesus makes it clear in Scripture that worry should not be a part of the Christian life. Not because we don’t have challenges. Not because our lives magically become easy once we place our faith in Christ. Jesus tells us not to worry because God is in control.
In Matthew 6:31-32, Jesus tells us: “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” (ESV)
The only time we need to worry is when God is not on his throne when He is no longer in control. Since that’s never the case, we can trust and not worry. We can have faith and not fear, peace and not pressure.
Worry is for those who don’t believe the Lord is God, not for His children. I encourage you today to remember who is really in control.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for faithfully and consistently providing for me. I pray for the peace that comes from trusting You today. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
