Though we’re positioned in this dark world to spread the light of Christ, we can be tempted to hide. But because of God’s ability, power, and love for us, we don’t need to do that. When God says, “Go, show Me off to the world that they may know Me and follow Me,” it is no longer time to hide. It’s time to burn boldly for God so that others may find their way to Him.
Matthew 5:14 says, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (ESV) I know this is not a simple charge. I know it’s hard, but darkness is where light shines the brightest. The darkness hates our light because our light exposes it for what it really is—a lie.
It’s not our job to go around pointing out the darkness. All we need to do is be the light that enables those around us to see. Our light shows that God is enough and worthy, and that automatically reveals that anything apart from Him is not.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, however dark it is, I encourage you to shine bright!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the purpose you have given me. I pray for courage to be the light You’re calling me to be. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
