It’s about that time for spring cleaning. Time to go through our closets, attics, and garages to figure out what’s for keeps, what’s to give away, and what simply needs to be thrown away. It always amazes me how much stuff we have. And I never realize it until it’s time to clean.

Honestly, any other time of year, it’s easy to just keep all that junk out of sight and forget it even exists. But when it’s time to clean, there is no more pretending. I must eventually come face-to-face with all my junk and do the hard labor of cleaning it up.

I think the same is true for our souls. We all have some junk that needs cleaning. Some issues we would like hidden behind the walls of our hearts. But then struggle comes—the type that brings out all our issues, and there’s no more room to hide. Psalm 139:11-12 says:

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. (Psalm 139:11-12 ESV)

I want to remind you of the importance of being honest about the issues you have hidden deep inside your heart. We read in the Psalms: “If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you” (Psalm‬ 139:11-12‬). When Jesus is with you, there is no secret so dark that His light can’t penetrate. There is no struggle His power can’t overcome. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the light of Your truth and love that forgives all sins and heals all wounds. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray, Amen.
