Much of our worry isn’t only in the thought that something bad will happen, but even more that we won’t be able to control it. We’re left feeling helpless if we base our security on our own ability and forget that although, no, we are not in control, we do know who is. We can’t control the future, but God has it all planned out. Proverbs 19:21 tells us:
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21 ESV)
We can’t control other people, but God is in the business of changing hearts. We can’t predict every outcome, but God’s will prevails. We don’t know the future, but we do know the God who created it. Today, I encourage you to praise God that He is in control and has your best interest at heart.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being in control of every area of my life, and leading me to live out Your God-given purpose. When I want to move ahead of You, please help me to relax and trust Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
