Before Christ, we followed the pattern of this world. We were called children of wrath because even if we wanted to choose life, we couldn’t because we were slaves to sin. There was no hope for the freedom to choose life. Until Ephesians 2:4, where two words changed everything: BUT GOD. It reads:
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—” (Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV)
God through Christ, saved us from our sinful nature and made us alive in Christ. This means we now have the power to choose Christ. We have the FREEDOM, which we didn’t have before to CHOOSE LIFE. That is what freedom in Christ means. Freedom in Christ is the power to choose life in Him so that we may live for Him. But we can’t do this without Him. Today, I encourage you to exercise your power to choose life and freedom.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that through Your son Jesus, I am free to choose life and Your abundant grace and mercy. Please remind me that I am no longer bound to the strongholds of sin, but have freedom in You. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
