How often are we scrolling and double-tapping someone else’s life online while neglecting our own real life? All of this is a distraction that leads to comparison, the fear of missing out, and discontentment. When we focus on our own homes and lives, we become grateful, and our hearts open to see just how blessed we already are. As we shift our attention from comparison of others to praising God more, our spirits are lifted and our perspectives change. When we openly praise God and give Him thanks, our minds are renewed and our hearts are cleansed. Psalm 37:4 states:
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 NIV)
Instead of focusing on what the next person has, God’s Word encourages us to delight in the Lord.
Today, I encourage you to redirect your focus to praising God for who He is and how He continues to bless you in amazing ways.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, when I start comparing my life to the next person, please forgive me and help me to be content and give you thanks for the numerous ways you are moving in my life. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
