It’s a sad truth that many hide their talents, brilliance, and creativity in the name of humility. But to hide what God has given you is not humility at all. It’s fear. Jesus tells us to shine bright. God himself grants us permission to be great in every way. Matthew 5:16 tells us:
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 ESV)
I think we fear that if we show the world all of our talents, then that will somehow take away from God’s glory. But since he’s the one who gave us these gifts, it brings him glory when we reveal them! I want to encourage you today not to worry about what others think. Build, create, and share all that God has placed in you. Never forget: it’s your light, but it’s for his glory!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for all the gifts and talents you have freely given me. I pray for boldness to freely give them back by letting my light shine for your glory. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
