When our to-do lists get too long and we start to grow tired and weary, it may be time to cut back. I’ve learned that feeling overwhelmed may not be a sign you are behind and need to do more, but that you need to cut back and simplify your life. It’s in these seasons where God calls us closer to him, to be still and rest so He can restore our souls like nothing else can. Psalm 23:2-3 says:
“He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” (Psalm 23:2-3 ESV)
How can we be still in such a busy world? We do so by allowing our souls to rest in the knowledge that our Lord alone is God. He is greater than our worry, our to-do list, and our anxiety. I encourage you today to hush before the Lord and take the necessary time to allow Him to restore your soul like only He can.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the rest only You can bring to my soul. Please fill me up today. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.
