Many people struggle with accepting God’s grace. It sounds too good to be true. So, we’re then inclined to set His grace aside and think, surely, we must do something for His love. Surely, we must put in some work of our own to be saved.
But if there was another way for us to be saved or if somehow we could work for it, I cannot logically believe God would have allowed His Beloved and only Son Jesus Christ to die. I do not think God would have allowed His Son to take that cup of suffering if there was another way. But God allowed Christ to suffer because it was the only way. It shows how much He desperately wants to be in a relationship with us. So, every time we set aside God’s grace, it’s like telling Jesus he really didn’t have to die. Galatians 2:21 says:
“I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21 ESV)
Jesus did suffer for a reason; it was not for fun or sport but because it had to be done. So, the next time you are tempted to think you need to work for your salvation, I encourage you to resist putting aside the grace of God. This is because Christ did not die for nothing; He died for you.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace, not only for its salvation but also for its power. I pray for the strength to be led by your grace in all that I do. In Jesus Christ Name I pray. Amen.
