The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. – Psalm 37:23-24 NIV
One of the most challenging things I’ve had to trust God with is myself. I am afraid of messing up, making a wrong decision, or doing something wrong. This fear has stopped me from boldly moving forward on things I know I should. And I’ve wrestled with God on this one because why should I trust myself? I live in this fallen world, constantly battling my flesh. Plus, doesn’t the Bible say things like “Don’t lean on your own understanding” and “the heart is deceitful above all things”?
But one thing God has shown me is that I don’t need to trust myself as much as I need to trust what He can do through me. The Bible reminds us that “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24 NIV) Today I want to encourage you in the truth that God is ordering your steps, even the ones you are afraid of making. May we focus on God today and not our weakness, because although we may stumble, we can rest assured He will never let us fall.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for ordering every single one of my steps. May I trust more and more in what You have planned to do through my life. In Jesus Christ Name I pray, Amen.
